Pink Overload

:::Here’s to some pinky goodness:::

Photo0363

Pink stripey nails to match my pink stripey DS holder (which contains a metallic pink DS) on top of my pink laptop.

These nails were inspired by a video tutorial on youtube, which I can’t seem to find again. But never fear, for TLP is here! (TLP’s my initials, FYI).

It’s super easy.

Just paint the base a light pink, wait for it to dry, then add vertical stripes in red and silver glitter, topcoat, and you’re done! woot.

See? They match good.

And another one, just cos pink is pretty.

Don’t the hearts just look soo cute? They’re some really old nail art stickers that I’ve had for so long that the backs aren’t even sticky anymore. I used some clear nailpolish as an adhesive. But they’re still cute. Yep. Still cute.

Haha! I love this pic… It’s so cool (well at least I think so anyway, please don’t burst my happy bubble). I didn’t notice the area of shade till I was reviewing the photos on the camera, and it looks like there’s a spotlight shining on the nails. ^^

This is the base color I used (Sally Hansen Maximum Growth plus in Pure Putty), which wasn’t pinkish enough in the end, so I had to add some bright pink stripes in between. If you observe the first few pics closely, you’ll see that some stripes are of a dusty pink color, which is this color here.

Bought at Groove for AUD$5, it’s supposed to contain vitamins A, C, and E and soy protein. Didn’t notice any difference, though that’s probably cos I’ve only worn this once for about 4 days.

I think this is a pretty color for those days when you just want a soft muted color. I find this color very calming.

Application-wise, the formula was very runny, which makes the polish very sheer. However, the polish does apply pretty  well. This is 3 coats, but even 3 coats doesn’t feel very heavy on the nails. But then, the nail lines are still obvious, see…

p.s. In case anyone thinks I’m a pink freak whose entire wardrobe is pink and is obsessed with Hello Kitty and the likes, I’d just like to clarify that, no, I’m not. There are less than 8 pink pieces in my cupboard.

Pink in small does is good. Pink on nails is good. Pink on accessories is good. Pink in small doses maketh me happy. Pink overload in this post was done on purpose.

As with all things in life, balance is key.. .eh?

Happiness is:

This::

Photo0444

lol this manicure just makes me happy. I have no idea why. I really like french manis with dots along the nail line. So simple, but so HAPPY-fying. Sometimes it’s good to find the joy in simple stuff eh?

 Photo0447 Teeny weeny heart-in-the-corner.. awwwww..

I used colors from Cutex’s 60 seconds supershine range. The light pink is Marshmellow and the darker pink is Berry Sorbet. I am such a sucker for names. These were on sale in Priceline (I think they were clearing these out to make way for a new range), and I had choose these two over something named Cinnamon Sparkle partly because I do not like Cinnamon and partly cos  the bf was there to help me control the crazy urge to just grab everything that caught my eye. So I had to leave something behind.

Everytime I pick up a bottle of polish, he goes: “Don’t you already have that color? I’m sure you do. I saw you buy it the last time.” and I go: “No I don’t!! This one is lighter/darker/has sparkles/has no sparkles/has bigger sparkles/has a sort of _insert_color_here_ tint to it! They are so totally different!’ And then he’ll go: “Ok ok… You can get this if you promise not to buy this color again.” Me: “Ok!” *fingers crossed, cos there’s always a difference, however small * Sigh. Males. They just don’t get it.

Ah yes, anyway, back to the discussion regarding these two particular polishes in particular eh. They applied well, not too thick and not too thin, and what you see on my nails are two coats of each polish (well obviously Berry Sorbet is only on the tips of the nails). Nice polishes, and as with most of my manicures, I had them on for about 5 days with no chips.

Sportsgirl Nail It! in “Angels Kiss”

P1080201

Bought this at a Sportsgirl sale, where it was going for AUD$4.95 (instead of its usual $7.95). Half of my attraction to this polish stemmed from its name… Angel’s kiss.. aww…

I have on 2 layers of basecoat ( in an attempt to lessen the yellowing – eeks!), 2 layers of color, and Jessica Dazzle Topcoat. This lasted me about 6 days with no chips, only some tipwear (though admittedly I don’t do much intensive housework, so my nails are spared from all the scrubbing and stuff. I do knit & crochet & craft though)

In the bottle, it’s a light nudish pink with some teeny-tiny red and gold shimmer. However, once applied, the color turned much more orangey/coral, and was way darker than it appeared in the bottle (see above pic). I didn’t like the change very much, as I’m not into orangey tones for some reason.

The interesting thing about this polish, however, is that it appears to be different shades of colors in different lighting. For example, in bright sunlight, when I was checking out my nails while waiting for the traffic lights to change, the color appeared like I’d wished it to be – plain nude with no orangey tinge.

The orangey tinge seemed to fade off abit over the next 2 days though (or maybe I just got used to the color). Decided to spice up the manicure abit, so this is what I did: P1080207 Forgot which polish I used for the tips though. This is what happens when one takes photos without taking notes. Oh well… Iirc, it’s a pale light pinkish polish from BYS. And yes, please excuse the dry skin/cuticles.. they’re a work in progress still :)

The nailart was inspired from somewhere, will update if I come across the inspiration again.. I’m sure it’s somewhere in the HUGE amounts of favourited links I have.
